Dr. Daniel Falush

Senior Research Fellow
Research interests :
I obtained my bachelor degree in Mathematics at the University of Cambridge and a PhD in Genetics at University College London. Postdoctoral work in statistical genetics at Kyushu University Japan and the Max Planck Institute for Infection biology in Berlin. Was a research fellow first in the University of Oxford (funded by the Wellcome Trust 2003-2008). My research involves developing statistical methodology for analysing genetic data (for example the programs STRUCTURE and ClonalFrame) and using the methods to elucidate organismal biology. I work mostly on bacteria but have been involved in a variety of side-projects in humans and other organisms. Major current projects include the successor to ClonalFrame (with Dan Lawson, Xavier Didelot and Aaron Darling) and methods for defining human ancestry based on genome-wide SNP data (with Garrett Hellenthal and Simon Myers).
